Central Regionals Recap

May 24, 2010 Posted by David Mathews

Well 1,000 miles and 15 hours of driving, but 11 young men and 4 coaches are back from a productive weekend seeing great competition. First I would like to thank the kids who came on this trip and were the perfect representatives of themselves and the state both on and off the mat. Second I would like to thank the Lutz's, Porter, and Mr. Climmons for covering kids, and making sure that these kids were able to compete.
Now for the recap. It was a great weekend and whenever you see Nationally Ranked kids as well as kids like Tsirtsis, Ness, and Brill (8th grade STUD) you know you are in for a good day of wrestling. Everyone made weight on Friday night and Saturday morning and came ready to wrestle on Saturday. We started with freestyle and here are the final results.
Cadet:
Dallas Brown - 2nd (125)
Jeremiah Lutz - 4th (125)
Brooks Climmons - 1st (160)

Junior:
Eric Sheppard - 4th (112)
Tyler Smith - 4th (285)
Tyler Askey - (145) (Lost out due to criteria in the round robin of the bracket - Should have went to placement)

Then on Sunday Greco started and here are the results.
Cadet:
Madison Martin - 3rd (119)
Jeremiah Lutz - 2nd (125)
Dallas Brown - 4th (125)
Tyler Askey - 1st (145)
Glenn Climmons - 1st (160)

Juniors:
Eric Sheppard - 2nd (112)
Walter Leyva - 4th (125)
Tyler Smith - 4th (285)

Now for the tournament trip awards as voted by the van:
"You get what you ask for" Award - William Hope (he said he could wrestle with Ness, then got paired and 5ptd by him)
"Now we're even" Award - Jeremiah Lutz (First match of Freestyle his opponent gets DQ'd for visious illegal headbut from partere position, Then they wrestle in Greco finals and Jeremiah gives him one back.)
"I got screwed by the ref" Award - TIE (Toby Crittenden and Dallas Brown) Both so bad calls in greco that
