Please join Team GA in welcoming the Southeast Regional Freestyle and Greco tournament back to GA for the first time in 15 years.  Additionally, this is the first time EVER that SE Regionals has been combined for all classes - Pee Wee through Junior.  It will be held at the Gwinnett Center (adjacent to the Arena) on May 23 - May 25, 2008. 

Registration closes at 11:59pm on TUESDAY May 20th. 

This event is coming back to GA for a one year trial basis.  If the event goes well, and we pull the numbers from throughout the Southeast that we think we're capable of pulling (preliminary estimates are around 500 for Greco and close to 1000 for freestyle) we can get this tournament extended for a 3 year contract.  That can only help grow the competitive level of freestyle and greco in GA.

This tournament is mandatory if you plan to wrestle in the GA Freestyle and Greco State tournament, or if you plan to try out for any of our Team GA National Teams - Schoolboy, Cadet and Junior Duals, or the Cadet and Junior National Championships held in Fargo, ND.  The Team GA National Coaches will be conducting a SE Regional Prep Camp the week preceding the tournament - details of the camp are forthcoming.

As a part of this new requirement, Team GA Wrestling is proud to announce a new award - The Team GA 5 Point Throw Award.  If you can win both styles at SE Regionals, both styles at the GA State Freestyle/Greco tournament and a GA State Folkstyle Championship, you will qualify for this award.   We are designing the trophy as we speak, and will post a picture of it as soon as it's available.  Suffice it to say that if you win this trophy, bring a truck to carry it home.
